I went to Walmart to buy a chair for my 1 year old. I get so excited when I get to buy practical things like a garbage can, tupperware, bathroom towels, or a new high chair for my child! I was happily trying to decide between Walmart and Target, and I happened to go with Walmart because I thought I could save a few bucks. I am the frugal type…
I found what I was looking for at a great price! I bought it.
When I was riding home, Target was on the way. I wanted to stop in and see what kinds of prices Target had. I get this from my dad. He would drive around town looking for the cheapest gas. Or go across town to a different store because grapes for 20 cents cheaper. So guess what? At Target it was 3 dollars cheaper! But oh well. It’s just 3 bucks. I went home.
First weird thing I noticed when I got home: The box looked like it had been tossed around and dropped a few times. If you take a look at the picture above again, in the bottom left corner, you can kind of see what I mean. But that wasn’t a big deal.
Second weird thing I noticed: When I opened the box, it looked like someone shoved in all the parts, and there was no order. Am I getting someone’s returned item? This store can do a better job of making it look like new if they are trying to sell it again..
Third thing that I noticed: I pulled out the tray and noticed IT WAS DIRTY! I could not believe my eyes! It looked there was dried egg yolk on the white tray. I was totally disgusted!! How does this happen!?! I would have rather it been broken or missing a part. But dried food? What kind of germs was I dealing with? How could they..what?!..did they check…EWW.
I put it back in the box, disappointed. Another trip back to the store.
When I got to Walmart, I stood in the return/exchange line. When I approached the front, a woman greeted and helped me. She was nice. But I couldn’t help overhearing two other workers, who weren’t even “in the back”-they were right there near the registers. They were both complaining about their hours, having to work during the night shift, and how they are going to look for a new job. I understand working the third shift isn’t anyone’s cup of tea, but openly complaining about it around customers isn’t good business! What I had just found in the box plus the negative energy that I felt standing there did NOT make me want to return to this store. I couldn’t wait to get out of there!
I stopped at Target to buy a chair. I went with a cute colorful one. When I got home, I opened the box, and the parts were in plastic! Yay!! It’s new! Walmart didn’t have plastic! Nobody ate eggs and left them on THIS table! I was very pleased.
Thanks Target, you’ve got my vote. Walmart, get it together.
Which store do you prefer? Any stories? I’d love to hear from you. Leave a comment!
